STANLEY JORAN PLAYS JIMI / Tupelo Hall (Derry) / 8pm

World-renowned guitarist Stanley Jordan has developed a new live show called “Stanley Jordan Plays Jimi”. It’s a tribute show, but not pure parody. Instead, Stanley carried on Jimmy’s legacy in a creative way. As Stanley explains, “If Jimi were alive and playing today, this would be my fantasy Jimi Hendrix concert. By reimagining his music and channeling his character, I tried to bring that fantasy to life.” This extra touch of portraying Hendrix of today rather than yesterday has brought creativity and freshness to the show for both Stanley and the audience, and it has given Stanley fans a new perspective on Stanley’s own evolution. It also makes the show more authentic in a sense, as a real Hendrix concert has surprises and unexpected twists. “Stanley Jordan as Jimmy” tries to recreate the energy and creativity of the real thing. www.tupelomusichall.com or (603) 437-5100
