the sweetest thing
Homegrown Sweet Sultan – Candylicious has made the loveliest calendar for Ramadan. Filled with 30 sweet treats, hidden in a box, and ready to open when you break your fast, kids (or not kids – no one’s judging) can look forward to sweet little surprises for Eid too. The whole thing costs only Dhs149 and is available now at the Yas Mall Candylicious store.

Already home to so many top-notch leisure activities, the Yas Bay Waterfront has announced that for 2022 the popular ‘Waterfront Nights’ series – celebrating the miracles of the holy month – will return for a second year. It’s scheduled to start Thursday, March 30, and will be open daily between 8pm and 1am until April 23. Of course, it’s completely free.

This sailing tour operator invites you to live your best Disney pirate life. Hop aboard one of their modern boats for a 6-hour tour of Abu Dhabi’s islands and enjoy a barbecue (but you’ll need to bring your own food). It’s a great spot on land, with stunning views, at stunning sea spots like Salt Island and Bahrani Island. In 2023, Iftar at Market at EDITION will once again benefit from the professional touch of regional culinary personalities. This time, it’s a collaboration with legendary Dubai chef Sara Aqel, kitchen star at Fi’lia in Miami, the Bahamas, Paris and, of course, Dubai. What about the price? mature stuff
One of our favorite home markets is now confirmed to be back in the capital. Mature Market Al Maryah Island It will be available on National Day weekend 2 December from 3pm to 10pm, then every Friday and Saturday. Al Maryah Island’s South Plaza will be transformed into a bustling market space – filled with exotic items and a dizzying array of merchants’ calls and stalls. Those keen to peruse can look forward to a vibrant selection of food and entertainment, all with mouth-watering crafts and a soothing soundtrack of lapping waves.

Along Abu Dhabi’s Corniche there are a number of award-winning ‘free entry’ parks filled with greenery, each with a slightly different theme. The Family Parks (No. 1 and No. 2) have a range of safe play areas (no men without ‘children or women’) and a fun mix of facilities for all ages. If you want to “get the day going” you’ll also find a skate park and sports court for active adventures, splash pool and BBQ pits. Unsurprisingly, Lakeside Park complements its greenery with its water features, and it’s no different here—a quaint park bridge perfect for profile photos and a romantic promenade. There’s plenty to do at Formal Park too, and as well as plenty of places to park and relax, leisure enthusiasts will find a maze and sports facilities, including an outdoor gym. On the easternmost end of the Corniche, head to Heritage Park for dhow harbor views, fountains, play areas, picnic spots and buildings inspired by the country’s history. Throughout the holy month (March 22-April 22), visitors will be able to enjoy special activities at Jubail Mangrove Park, including the yet-to-be-specified “peace and adventure…water activities”. There will also be ‘The World Is My Salad’ yoga class – relax, stretch and connect with the outside world in the company of nature and serenity.
“That’s the way” thing

Judging by the way some of you treat the motorways here, it’s unlikely you’ll get a shock phone call ahead of next year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. But there’s still a way you can find yourself doing a few laps at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit. They have a ton of cars to experience, but the best for thrill seekers has to be Formula Yas 3000 (Dhs1,840). Described as “the closest thing to an F1 car that most people will ever drive”, you’ll be looking around in a car with a 3.0-litre V6 Jaguar Cosworth engine and Formula 1 paddle shifters.
