A convoy of 100 cars driven by women paraded at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi on Sunday night to commemorate the UAE Women’s Day.
The second Robe Rally held to celebrate “The Power of Robes” had a big celebration at the Al Raha Beach Hotel. Thirty Emirati female achievers were honoured along with 10 female police officers from the Abu Dhabi Police Force, who were recognised for their security work.
Founded in 2015 by Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak to recognise the efforts of Emirati women and celebrate their achievements, UAE Women’s Day Observations are made on a different theme each year. This year’s theme is “Inspiring Realities; Sustainable Futures”.
Orbited by Orbit Events and Promotions under the auspices of the Emirates Motor Sports Organisation (EMSO), the Abaya Rally showcases ‘The Power of Abaya’ – a proud heritage, a well-respected culture and the identity of an Emirati woman . It ends at the Al Raha Beach Hotel.
“As someone who has spent most of my time in the UAE, I have always wanted to create a concept that inspires, unites and celebrates the achievements of women in a fun and memorable way. We are unaware of the development of the Abaya Rally Overwhelmed,” said Pragna Vaya, managing director of Orbit Events and Promotions, which is organised in conjunction with the UAE Motor Sports Organisation.
The event also featured a panel discussion titled “Empowering Women: Leadership, Vision and Empowering Change for a Sustainable Future.” Speakers included engineers Suaad Al Shamsi and Walaa Al Shehhi, influencer Mona Sulaiman Tajaarbi and boxer Fahima Falaknaz.
Artist Ibanda Benzamin painted an NFT artwork at the event, depicting two Emirati women wearing Emirati-coloured robes against the Abu Dhabi skyline.
Organisers of the event also staged the first-ever Kandurah rally in July, with more than 100 supercars and muscle cars roaring into Dubai Digital Park.The event attracted many of the biggest names in the auto industry, as well as popular influencers like Tony Keyrouz and YouTuber Rashed Belhasa, aka Money Kicks.
