As part of the “100 Million Meals” campaign, Egypt has completed the distribution of food packages to provide the equivalent of 30 million meals to low-income families and impoverished communities.
Through cooperation with the food bank regional network, 928 local humanitarian organizations and the Egyptian Food Bank, approximately 504,000 beneficiaries across Egypt received easy-to-storable food packages including flour, sugar, rice and edible oil for one month Consumption.
The distribution in Egypt is part of the large-scale food aid operation of the 100M Meals campaign, which aims to cover 30 countries on four continents. Some countries in the world are still distributing food aid.
Sara Al Nuaimi, Director of the Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiative (MBRGI), said: “Participating in humanitarian assistance is the key to fighting hunger and malnutrition, especially in the special circumstances caused by the coronavirus pandemic. We have seen the impact of joint work in Egypt, where humanitarian and social agencies work with relevant authorities and charities in an integrated network to ensure that food aid reaches a wide range of beneficiaries.”
Dr. Moez El Shohdi, founder and CEO of the Food Bank Regional Network, said that the event is aimed at people in urgent need and has become a model of cross-border cooperation in 30 countries to ensure the sustainability and continuity of humanitarian and charitable work.
