Among ice cream lovers, nothing beats summer — or spring, winter or fall – like the Dairy Queen Blizzard and the red plastic spoon. Made with soft ice cream and classic toppings like candy and cookie crumbs, these frozen mixes are somewhere between a sundae and a milkshake: while they offer all the bits and pieces of your favorite sundae bars, yes, they’re milk-like Mix as before and they retain a thick enough consistency to stay in place when your cup is turned upside down.
The restaurant launched its first Blizzard Gourmet menu in 1985, featuring four classic flavors: Oreo, M&M’s, Butterfinger and Heath. According to a spokesperson for the brand, Oreo Blizzard is still the best-selling flavor despite the regular introduction of new flavors thanks to the delicious work done by DQ’s consumer insights and research, product development and market testing teams.
But for us, it’s not a problem Dairy Queen Flavor are the most popular and can even be ordered. The real conundrum is when to order what flavors.
So, we recruited a small group of taste testers to spoon out 11 of what must be the hottest Blizzard flavors of summer, and prescribe one for each. It’s hard work, but someone has to do it. (For the record: Our blood sugar is still off the charts.)
Summer Dairy Queen Blizzard Tastes and Time to Eat

When You Can’t Share With Kids: Oreo Mud Pie Blizzard Treat
Combining OREO cookies, fondant worms and fondant crumbles into DQ’s signature fondant, a flavor technically dubbed “most likely to be enjoyed by kids too young to know better” , because the gummy worms in it don’t do much for the taster.
