SHARJAH 24 – WAM: The National Olympic Committee has announced that the UAE will participate in the 15th Arab Games, which will be hosted by Algeria from July 5-15, and the UAE team will feature 131 athletes, including 80 male and 51 female athletes in 15 sports.
These will include volleyball, athletics, boxing, judo, swimming, karate, badminton, cycling, weightlifting, table tennis, fencing, chess, wheelchair basketball and athletics for people of determination.
The theme of this grand event is “Sports Improvement Competition, Meet Algeria”. At that time, 6,000 athletes from Arab countries will participate in 23 events, including 3 events for those who are determined. There will be a total of 245 sports events. project. Held in 5 different cities namely: Algeria, Constantine, Oran, Tipasa and Annaba.
Held under the supervision of the Federation of Arab National Olympic Committees, the event aims to consolidate the unity of Arab youth, strengthen friendship among Arab peoples, and reinforce the principles of the Arab Olympic Movement.
At a press conference held today at the Dubai Committee headquarters, Ahmed Al Tayeb, Director of Technical and Sporting Affairs at the NOC, highlighted the importance of successful participation and excellent results to further strengthen the track record of the UAE.
He also noted that the Arab Games offer a unique opportunity for all athletes to ensure they are well prepared for other sporting events, including the Asian Games, which will be held in September.
Al Tayeb further explained that the UAE’s participation is in line with the vision of Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai’s Second Deputy Ruler and Chairman of the National Olympic Committee, to double down on all sporting events.
During a press conference, Al Tayeb revealed that the UAE will participate in the 9th Francophonie Games to be held in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo from July 28 to August 6, competing in 3 sports: judo, table tennis, track and field.
The UAE will also participate in two sports at the ANOC World Beach Games, which will be held in Bali, Indonesia from 5-12 August.
