UAE search and rescue teams have taken part in rescue operations following deadly earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.Wan
The UAE’s search and rescue team, comprising 134 rescuers working under Operation Gallant Knight/2 in Syria and Turkey, is in a race against time to free people trapped under the rubble.
The efforts are part of the UAE’s efforts to help contain the impact of the recent earthquake that hit both countries.
The Defense Ministry’s Joint Operations Command said the rescue teams, equipped with specialized equipment designed for such rescue operations, had been deployed in several disaster-affected areas.
The catastrophic aftermath of the earthquake required a serious stance to aid the people of Syria and Turkey, which obligated us to respond according to the scale of the disaster, based on the UAE’s approach to such cases and our understanding of the disaster. The Joint Operations Command explained the urgency of the situation.
Rescue teams in the UAE were among the first to reach the quake-hit areas, a testament to their quick response in natural disaster situations, which is further supported by the various forms of aid provided by the UAE to meet the needs of the Rapid assessment of the situation and related developments.
