A 15-year-old boy was killed and three others were injured in a shooting in Stockholm on Saturday, police said, adding that a motive had not been determined.
Police received reports of a shooting near a square in southern Stockholm in the evening and found two people with gunshot wounds at the scene. Two other people were found nearby injured.
The teenager succumbed to his injuries while others were taken to hospital.
“The person who died at the scene was a 15-year-old boy,” Stockholm police spokesman Towe Hagg told AFP.
Another 15-year-old boy was injured, along with a man and a woman aged between 45 and 65, police said in a statement.
Less than an hour after the shooting, two men were arrested during a car chase south of Stockholm, they added.
Police said they had launched a murder and attempted murder investigation.
Three other people were injured in two shootings in the area around Stockholm on Friday.
Sweden has struggled to rein in a surge in shootings and bombings in recent years as criminal gangs settle accounts fueled by the drug trade.
The country recorded 391 shootings in 2022, 62 of which resulted in deaths, up from 45 the year before, according to police data.
