The competition and closing events for the 16th edition of the Al Dhafra Festival will begin tomorrow as part of the camel beauty season in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The event, under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will run until February 2 at Madinat Zayed, Al Dhafra district.
Organized by the Cultural Projects and Heritage Festival Committee – Abu Dhabi and strategic partner ADNOC, the festival aims to preserve and develop heritage events, enable camel owners to continue the tradition of breeding and caring for camels, and highlight the importance of camels in the UAE and the GCC culture.
Major General Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police (ADP) and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Cultural Programs and Heritage Festival Committee, commended the wise leadership for their support of heritage conservation projects, promotion and development of the Heritage Festival, enabling camel owners to continue Breeding and caring for camels and supporting those interested in falconry, thoroughbred Arabian horses and heritage competitions make the emirate of Abu Dhabi a unique example in the field of organizing heritage festivals.
He added that President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has given great attention to the festival since its first inception in 2008, a continuation of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin’s approach, Sultan Al Nahyan, a key pillar in preserving the UAE’s authentic cultural heritage, has instilled in future generations a love of tradition and pride in authentic customs and traditions.
