2021 ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon is a big success

The ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon returned to the capital this weekend, marking the safe and successful return of the sports event that the public participated in.

The third event was full and 12,000 participants participated in the six event categories; 1792 people participated in the full marathon, of which 3697 people, 3643 people and 2779 people were in 10 kilometers, 5 kilometers, and 2.5 kilometers respectively.

The game was played in perfect weather conditions. The winners of Kenya’s Titus Ekiru and Judith JeptumKorir completed the game in record times of 02:06:13 and 02:22:30, respectively. This year’s marathon ushered in 35 world-class elite athletes, which is by far the largest number of elite athletes participating in the race.

Following the incredible success of the previous edition, the 2021 ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon also witnessed the return of the wheelchair category. Emirati Ayed Alahbabi, on behalf of Alain Club for People of Determination, won the championship with an incredible 1:35 time: 13 Close behind are the UAE runner-up Badir Al Hosani and the Omani national Ali Al Saadi.

This year’s marathon also hosted a vibrant, family-friendly activity village, which opened on November 22, allowing spectators to enjoy a large number of activities and unforgettable experiences. The four-day event is held from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm every day and lasts until November 25. A more energetic activity village will start at 6:00 this morning.

The activity village offers a variety of live entertainment, sponsored activities and family games, including Nike Dome, treadmill competitions and free health checks provided by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) as part of its HAYAT activities.

Muhmmad Ammar Ijaz participated in his first 10km race. He said: “This is my first time in Abu Dhabi, so I am very excited to be here today to participate in the race. I have the best running. Experience-this is actually my first time participating in a competitive race. I managed to complete my 10 kilometers in 1 hour and 25 minutes. I will definitely be back next year, hoping to participate in the marathon.”

In addition, the 10km contestant is Dara Ahmed: “Today I completed 10km, this is my first race. It is an amazing atmosphere and I also had a good time , I am very proud of it. I will definitely do it again.”
