Bangladesh and Thailand have reserved two spots for the bottom two teams at the last Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020 and are also the highest-ranked teams in the ICC Women’s T20I rankings, behind the World Cup’s eight automatic qualifiers.
Scotland (Europe), Zimbabwe (Africa), United Arab Emirates (Asia) and United States of America (Americas) won their respective regional qualifiers, while Papua New Guinea emerged as the highest-ranked team in the East Asia Pacific region due to Covid-19 Pandemic, regional qualifiers had to be canceled.
Meanwhile, Ireland are the highest-ranked teams in the regional qualifiers that have not won their respective tournaments.
The teams are divided into two groups, Group A Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland and the United States, and Group B Thailand, Zimbabwe, Papua New Guinea and the United Arab Emirates. The top two teams in each group will advance to the semifinals. The winner of each semi-final advances to the final and next year’s World Cup.
