’30 Minutes’ visit to Duke of Sussex’s coronation draws attention | World News

The Duke of Sussex reportedly slipped into Buckingham Palace without meeting any members of the royal family during his recent visit to the UK for the coronation of King Charles III.

Prince Harry, 38, spent about “30 minutes” at the royal residence after the service at Westminster Abbey before heading to Heathrow for his 3.45am flight to California, U.S. with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, The Telegraph reported.

Prince Harry’s visit to Buckingham Palace is only for “logistical reasons” as he needs to stay out of the public eye after the auspicious two-hour ceremony, according to a source close to the matter. He did not speak to any members of the royal family during his brief visit.

King Charles III is said to have expressed regret that his youngest son had been invited to the coronation and raised his glass to “those who were not there” during the royal celebratory lunch.

However, sources say the Duke of Sussex’s lack of ties to the royal family is “practical” as he is anxious to get back to his wife and children while other families are busy with the coronation procession.

Notably, this is the Duke’s first appearance at a royal residence since the Queen’s funeral last September. He was in England earlier this year to attend a court case, but it is not known if he has met King Charles III or Prince William.

The little prince sat in the third row on the Buckingham Palace balcony at the coronation, two rows behind his brother Prince William, Duke of Wales, in a dark morning coat and tie, with his Order of Afghanistan and Jubilee medals pinned to his suit Jacket, Royal Victoria Order and neck decoration. Throughout the ceremony, he kept his plastic smile on.

Still, the Duke was seen having a light-hearted conversation with his cousins, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and told them he flew to Meghan “at about a quarter past four.” He landed in Los Angeles the same afternoon as his son’s fourth birthday.

“It’s about showing up, showing support, and being there for his dad,” a source said.

At the royal family’s celebratory lunch, King Charles III reportedly toasted his three grandchildren, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who were all stars of the show and appeared poised in public.

However, the crowned king also made a special toast to “those who weren’t there” and wished Prince Harry a happy birthday “wherever he is” as the Duke of Sussex’s visit to the UK reportedly coincided with his birthday.

“It’s obviously a really sweet moment,” a source told reporters.

Some have noted a lack of attraction between Harry and the royal family during the visit, a continuation of ongoing tension between the Duke of Sussex and his family.

The British army general has been outspoken about his experience with the royal family and his decision to step back from royal duties in 2020. However, given his tight schedule and the limited time he has been given, many see his lack of contact as a practical decision for England.

Prince Harry’s brief visit to Buckingham Palace and his lack of ties to the royal family have drawn widespread media attention and fueled speculation about ongoing tensions within the royal family.
