4 Bangladeshi workers killed in Abu Dhabi fire

Four Bangladeshi workers have died in a fire at a sofa factory in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

A fire broke out at the Yusuf Furniture factory in Sharjah Saniyat, Abu Dhabi, on Tuesday morning, according to reports.

The dead were Md Yusuf Miah, 45, son of Abdul Kader, Tarek Hossain Badol, 42, son of Mir Hossain, and Md Rasel, 26, son of Abdul Wahab from Tarabaria village under Ward 2 of Senbagh upazila Dumurua union Noakhali and Md Sumon from Nangalkot upazila, Comilla.

The victim’s family confirmed the incident.

Golam Rasul, brother of the late Yusuf, said: “My brother has lived in the UAE for 25 years. He worked in a factory in Sharjah. It is not clear how the fire started. After the fire, our relatives in that country We were informed by phone in the afternoon that four people, including my brother, had died.”

Rasel’s mother, Sharifa Begum, said: “Rasel is the second of two siblings. He leaves behind a chronically ill one-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Loan from Taka. He found a job at that sofa factory because there were some other people in the same area. At about 1 am on Monday, he was talking to his wife and family on his mobile phone as usual. Because the next day On duty, he said he had to go to bed, and hung up. On Tuesday afternoon, I learned through people in Abu Dhabi that Russell died in a fire in his sleep.”

Shawkat Hossain, chairman of Dumurua union parishad, said: “I have heard about this. In Dhaka, it is impossible to go to the victim’s house. On Wednesday morning, the union parishad will send local public representatives to the victim’s house to get more information. I will Take steps to repatriate the remains of the victims.”
