We asked Naushad Mohammed, owner of Abu Dhabi-based IT solutions company Trutech Information Technologies LLC, for a quick look at student laptops. Based on more than 20 years of industry experience, Mohammed said the minimum configuration for students includes an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM (random access memory) and SSD (solid state disk) storage.

“Business administration students can use a regular laptop with these specs, but architecture or design students will need at least a dedicated 2GB graphics card. When it comes to Windows, HP, Dell and Asus have a wide range of products. Thanks to 3D modeling and Rendering slows down computers, and engineering students should look for an Intel Core i7 and 16GB of RAM. Laptops are needed for the next three to four years of study, so be prepared to spend money,” he said.

Designers, on the other hand, often choose the MacBook because of its Retina display and ease of use, Mohammed added. If you’re on a tight budget, you can opt for an affordable i3 processor laptop, but be aware that it may not offer the kind of stellar performance you’re looking for.

We’ve included a range of options below, so check out and compare the configurations listed to find the model that’s right for you.if you are looking for a school tablet Instead, we’ve got some great options for you.Shopping Amazon Prime Free, next day delivery.

advantage

  • Fast AMD Ryzen 9 processor
  • 16GB RAM and 1TB storage
  • 6GB graphics card
  • One-click login
  • Connection ports include HDMI and DisplayPort

shortcoming

Gaming laptops are the best option for running demanding CAD (computer-aided design) software. The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 offers plenty of 16GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage; it’s also backed by a powerful NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card. In short, your rendering application will run very fast here. Because it’s a gaming device, it can feel a little bulky to carry around, but that’s all a big part of a high-end spec machine. You can log into your system in seconds using the built-in fingerprint reader, and enjoy separate HDMI and DisplayPort connections for better viewing of projects on larger screens. The only downside that might be a deal breaker for some is the lack of a webcam, although it does support external cameras.

Boot up and get back to work in seconds with 512GB of SSD storage and 8GB of RAM, not to mention its fingerprint-integrated power button that gets you in right away. Additionally, this model features a 720p HD webcam. It doesn’t even have one but two Thunderbolt 4 ports, supporting up to two 4K displays. This is ideal for computing everyday presentations and Word tasks.

Students looking for budget-friendly options can check out Lenovo’s IdeaPad line. We’ve picked the latest model, the IdeaPad 5, which has a 14-inch display and up to 16GB of RAM at an affordable price. It runs on an eight-core AMD Ryzen 7 processor, considered to be on par with the pricier Intel Core i7, so it will be lightning-fast for research-intensive professionals. Unless your unique biometric signature is detected on the power button, the laptop will continue to sleep, leaving you and others inaccessible. Its all-day battery life is expected to last you through extended lectures, where you can press the privacy shutter to permanently turn off the webcam. You can connect an HDMI or DisplayPort cable to the machine, or use the USB-C port with power delivery to charge your smartphone.

bonus: Buy with zero instalments and pay AED 226.30 at select banks for 12 months.

Warranty: Amazon offers a one-year accidental damage protection for the Dh285, a one-year extended warranty for the Dh341, and a two-year damage protection plus a one-year extended warranty for the Dh363.

5. Best for Design Students: Apple MacBook Air (2022)

advantage

  • Extremely fast M2 processor chip
  • Liquid Retina Display with 1 Billion Colors
  • 1080p HD webcam
  • Weighs 1.24 kg

shortcoming

  • Limited connection options

Have you ever noticed that the graphics on your MacBook always look so sharp? It’s all thanks to Apple’s high-pixel-density Retina display, so our eyes can never discern individual colored dots, but instead see a smooth liquid. It’s for this reason that most designers flock to MacBook machines, and the faster M2 chip in the 2022 model is just a deal. Our pick is the 13.6-inch MacBook Air, which will keep loads light in your bag, in a cool shade of space gray. The octa-core graphics processing unit with 8GB of RAM can handle heavy editing software with ease. Apple promises up to 18 hours of battery life per day. Be prepared for limited connectivity, though, with just two Thunderbolt ports (supporting up to 6K displays) and a headphone jack.

bonus: Buy with zero instalments and pay Dh416.58 for 12 months at select banks.

Warranty: Amazon offers a one-year accidental damage protection for the Dh454, a one-year extended warranty for the Dh475, and a two-year damage protection plus a one-year extended warranty for the Dh605.
