For some, Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer, and the three-day weekend promises some early summer fun.

Memorial Day Weekend Party at Legacy Hall will feature live country music from tribute bands, including Straight Tequila Night and Sons of Bocephus, as well as $25 BBQ specials (available to order in advance) including beef brisket, jalapeno cheddar sausage and side dishes. Two dozen restaurants and bars in food courts will also be open.

Epic Waters, the 800,000-square-foot water park complex in the Grand Prairie, will welcome summer with special events this Memorial Day weekend. Epic Waves, a 10,000-square-foot outdoor pool that generates 4-foot waves every 10 minutes, will reopen this season with live music, dances and other entertainment. The park also includes a new 70-foot water slide called Locur, a 600-foot lazy river, a FlowRider surf simulator, the Aquanaut inner tube ride and Rascal’s Roundup, an area for the little ones. There is also a café, bar and lounge, as well as a playground with classic and latest games.

Garden Concert: Patriotic Pop

This year, the Fort Worth Symphony’s family-friendly outdoor concert series kicks off Memorial Day weekend. To celebrate the holiday, there will be a patriotic pop concert featuring American music and marches and a new drone fireworks display on May 27.weekend will also include queen music at wimborne May 26 and harry potter music May 28. Blankets, lawn chairs and outdoor food and drink including alcohol are allowed, and you can also buy concessions or pre-book a central market picnic.Lawns and tables open at 6:30pm, show begins at 8:30pm

Memorial Day at the Texas Pool

The Texas-shaped pool, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, will open in its 62nd summer with a Memorial Day Pool Party complete with games and a photo booth. A flag raising ceremony and trumpets will be held at 3pm to mark the national moment of remembrance. Coolers, chairs and canopies are allowed, but alcoholic beverages are not. Snack bars and food trucks will sell concessions.

The Jimmy Buffett-inspired event then ends with a Parrot Head Party from 5-8pm featuring cover band 5 O’Clock Somewhere. Both events were held on the Topo Chico Hard Seltzer Stage and Lawn.
