5 things to do this week: Books, fun and an anti-Alzheimer’s ride

Sara Broers, author of “100 Things to Do in Iowa Before You Die,” will be at the Iowa Welcome Center and Rest Area Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Top signed books and answered travel questions. The rest area is near the Minnesota border on Interstate 35.

Harold’s Bar at 1318 E. Main St. will host a block party presented by KB Entertainment during the opening of the summer on Saturday at 8 pm. There is no cover.

riding alzheimer’s
District 1 American Legion Riders will host a dementia ride Saturday at Geneva Bar and Grill starting at 9:30am. All street legal vehicles are welcome to participate in the event rain or shine.

Casey Mac performs for the Sunday Foundation at Bend in the Road on Sunday at 4pm. Casey Mac entertains everyone with a wide variety of songs covering all genres. There is no cover. Bend in the Road is located at 25483 State Highway 13, Manchester.

Lefty Book Club
Angie Hanson will host a book club meeting at Caribou Coffee on Wednesdays at 5:45pm. She will discuss “Benjamin Banneker and Us: Eleven Generations of an American Family” by Rachel Jamison Webster. Anyone is welcome to join, even if they haven’t read the book. The meeting will be at 2717 Bridge Ave.
