It sounds like The Shelter might open the door to the rap wars again.

50 points revealed that he and slim Shady ‘Ain’t Afraid’ rapper’s semi-autobiographical film in the works 8 miles for tv.

“We’re on the move,” 50 cent said of the project in an interview with BigBoyTV on Friday. “It’s going to be big…you know, I don’t have a dud.”

Multi-hyphen (real name: Curtis Jackson) explained that it didn’t take any convincing to get Eminem interested in adapting the 2002 film into a series. “I think his legacy should be there because if you can’t see it… what’s important to me is that they understand it,” the rapper said.

However, that doesn’t mean elements of the upcoming show will play out exactly as they did in the original film. “It’s a modern version,” 50 Cent noted when comparing it to the 2022 TV show Bel-AirPeacock’s Reimagining the Beloved NBC Sitcom Bel-Air Fresh Prince.

“I would love to be able to show and give more detail — what you’d say in an interview, or the different things you’ve used, where you put them and so on,” he said. “You see those things in the character’s temperament.”

Representatives for 50 Cent and Eminem did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.

Upon its release, the film — which also stars Kim Basinger, Michael Shannon, Maki Pfeiffer, Brittany Murphy and Anthony Mackie — an instant box office hitshortly after, its soundtrack dominated billboard album chart.

8 miles is a hip-hop fable, built around bits and pieces of Eminem’s life and mythology, but with an unruly immediacy,” former EW critic Owen Gleiberman said in his 2002 review“Even if the script is just enough, Hansen’s stage is full of energy.”
