Level 6.0 Earthquake hits southern Philippines On Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said local authorities had warned of possible aftershocks and possible damage.

The shallow quake struck around 2pm (0600GMT), a few kilometers from the city of Maragusan in the mountainous province of Davao de Oro in Mindanao.
Authorities were checking reports of landslides on the national highway, an employee of the Maragusan disaster office told AFP.

“We have not received any other reports of damage or casualties, but we are checking villages around the town,” he added, declining to give his name.
“Things in the office vibrated but were not damaged.”
Earthquakes occur daily in the Philippines, which lies along the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” an arc of intense earthquakes and volcanic activity that stretches from Japan to Southeast Asia and across the Pacific Basin.
