A closely watched international legal battle will hold a hearing next month for the custody of 6-year-old Eitan Baran.
A family court in Tel Aviv held its first hearing on Thursday on the battle for custody of a 6-year-old boy who was the only survivor of the Italian cable car disaster. His grandfather did not have permission from his Italian family. Bring it to Israel.

The Italian family said that Peleg drove Eitan across the nearby border to Switzerland, and then flew to Israel by private jet, where his grandfather and other family members lived.
They described the trip as a kidnapping and have petitioned the Israeli Family Court for the return of the child. Peleg stated that his actions were legal and in Eitan’s best interests.
“At this point, I am very worried. I want to see him go home as soon as possible,” Aya, who came to Israel to attend the hearing, told reporters outside the courtroom in a closed meeting. “I am worried about Ai Tan.”

In a joint statement, the lawyers of both parties stated that they agreed that the health of the child is the most important thing.

Peleg told Israel’s Channel 12 that he had given up fighting for custody in the Italian court system and said he hoped the boy would understand when he grows up.

The magistrate is still investigating why the cable car suddenly fell to the ground on the line connecting Stresa on the shore of Lake Maggiore and nearby Mount Motarone.
