7 US police sued former President Donald Trump for being an ally in the Capitol riots-News

On Thursday, seven U.S. congressional police officers filed a lawsuit against former President Donald Trump and members of right-wing extremist organizations, accusing them of being directly responsible for the January 6 attack on Congress.

The lawsuit is one of several lawsuits against Trump because thousands of his supporters tried to prevent Democrat Joe Biden from being certified by Congress in the November 2020 presidential election.

The latest lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court in Washington by the Civil Rights Lawyers Committee on behalf of seven congressional police officers who fought Trump supporters in the Capitol.

The people mentioned in the lawsuit include Trump, the Trump campaign, Trump’s colleague Roger Stone, and members of the right-wing extremist organizations Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, and Three Percenters.

The lawsuit stated that they “illegal use of force, intimidation and threats to prevent Congress from certifying the results of the 2020 presidential election.”

The complaint stated: “Due to the defendant’s illegal behavior, the plaintiff was violently beaten, spat, tear gas, bear spray, racially slandered and nicknamed, and feared for their lives.” The five police officers who filed the lawsuit were black.

Damon Hewitt, chairman and executive director of the Lawyers Committee, stated that the January 6 attack “was a blatant attempt to stifle the votes and voices of millions of Americans, especially black voters.”

Hewitt said: “In the months after the 2020 election, former President Trump and his associates conducted coordinated and systematic attempts to raise false allegations of election fraud.”

“This conspiracy lie deliberately inspires white supremacists and violent extremist groups and actively encourages them to coordinate violent attacks on the Capitol.”

Trump has also become the target of a lawsuit filed by Democratic lawmakers over the January 6 attack, and a special committee of the House of Representatives has begun investigating the attack on Congress.

On Wednesday, the Select Committee issued a comprehensive request to the National Archives and seven government agencies for records related to the attack, including from Trump, his family, his senior aides and dozens of other governments. Communications from former members.

Trump has consistently refused to admit that he lost to Biden, and continues to baselessly claim that he won the election.

The real estate tycoon was impeached by the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives in January on charges of sedition, but was acquitted by the Senate.
