The latest phase of the ongoing road safety movement…
An army of more than 700 new fixed cameras is driving on the roads of Abu Dhabi. They will be equipped with sophisticated software equipped with a “multi-target tracking radar” system that can simultaneously focus on multiple traffic lanes.
“METAfusion” radar comes from IDEMIA’s laboratory, IDEMIA is a French technology company specializing in “enhanced identity” and has provided a number of cutting-edge cameras for the roads of Dubai.
The METAfusion device can not only capture faster drivers, but also analyze data related to many driving violations, including changing lanes and running red lights without instructions. The METAfusion camera can also provide feedback on weather conditions and capture a 10-second video clip.
Major Mohamed Al Dhabi, head of the traffic technology system of the Abu Dhabi Police Security System Department, said of the shipment: “This initiative is an effort made by the Abu Dhabi Police to improve the traffic safety of drivers and road users. Part of it, but also as part of the strategy to keep pace with the country’s development process in the next 50 years.”
Speeding and unindicated lane changes are the two leading causes of road traffic accidents in the UAE and deaths due to collisions worldwide.
