Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Committee, visited the Dubai School-Al Barsha today to review the progress of the Dubai School Project.
He was accompanied by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Dubai; Abdulla Al Basti, Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of Dubai Schools and Chairman of the Supervisory Steering Committee .
He reviewed the education process of Dubai schools. The project was launched in March 2021 to create a new UAE school education model that provides global education standards rooted in national values.
“Quality education is essential for personality development and the inculcation of creativity and innovation. We have developed an excellent UAE education model to achieve our future ambitions. Dubai is entering a new phase where its education sector will follow international best Practice and maintain the highest global benchmark while also maintaining our UAE and Arab identity,” he said.
Sheikh Hamdan visited the school’s classrooms and facilities and listened to the introduction of the project’s progress. He directed the Dubai School Project and created conditions for more students to benefit from its advanced school education system by establishing partnerships with private schools and education service providers.
The partnership with Taaleem to open Dubai schools in Mirdif and Al Barsha is part of the first phase of the Dubai School Project. In August, Sheikh Hamdan issued a directive to increase the number of students in Dubai schools by 50%. The initial enrollment target of 800 students for the 2021-22 school year has been increased to 1,200.
The project aims to build government-funded schools operated by the private sector in accordance with global standards. Dubai schools will ensure that UAE students and students of other nationalities can obtain modern science and technology education at an affordable cost. Through a public-private partnership, Dubai Schools seeks to enhance the emirate’s status as an education destination.
