Relaxation of public transport rules in Dubai

During the pandemic, the United Arab Emirates has done everything it can to ensure the safety of its citizens, residents and tourists. For people using public transportation in Dubai, this includes some strict rules and regulations that must be followed.

However, the number of daily Covid-19 cases in the UAE has now decreased, and some rules have now been relaxed.

This is an update of public transportation rules.

Dubai Metro

Dubai Metro Public Transport Rules

At the beginning of the pandemic, RTA Nearly 170,000 stickers are fixed on various public transportation services and their stations to ensure the highest level of safety.

Last weekend, these social distancing stickers on the platform and the “please don’t sit” stickers on Dubai Metro seats were removed.

This means that although you are still being urged to keep your distance from other passengers, all seats on the Dubai Metro are now full. You must wear a mask at all times during the journey and in Dubai Metro stations.

RTA bus

Similar to the Dubai Metro, the stickers on all RTA buses in Dubai have been removed, including the “do not sit” stickers on the seats.

During the journey, you must always wear a mask.

RTA taxi

Dubai Metro Public Transport Rules

Previously, ordinary taxis were limited to two passengers and the driver. The front seat next to the driver cannot be seated. Passengers must sit behind the driver. However, the capacity limit has now increased.

A regular taxi can carry up to three passengers (one of whom can sit in the front seat) and the driver. Traveling with kids? If they are under 14 years old, they will be allowed to take a taxi.

The family van taxi can carry four passengers and the driver. This applies to all rides, except for all trips to Abu Dhabi.

If you travel to the capital, Up to two passengers Drivers are allowed.
