Adding some chaos to evening plans once in a while can lead to the best stories for friends at home. You can intentionally infuse your night with plenty of nonsense when you get tickets to The Blue Man Group, a long-running show that seamlessly blends seductive tunes with goofy acts Combined to create 90 minutes of perfect entertainment.
Even before the show begins, you know you’re in for a good time, as comedic information and instructions are sent to the audience via text scrolling screens on either side of the stage. Just as the audience got to the point, the curtain opened and the Blue Man Group began their famous percussion performance. Even if it’s not made with traditional instruments, the musical elements of the show are satisfying. If anything, the show proved with its ingenious inventions that anything can be used to make a melody.
In addition to the auditory elements, the show uses a full range of visual elements to tie it together. You’ll see the neon paint these performers are famous for splattering from drums, PVC pipes and even their mouths, but you’ll also see impressive lighting, innovative use of sets and physical comedy – a lot of it the latter.
As non-verbal performers, the group often relied on facial expressions and movements to deliver their punchlines, and they did so effortlessly. Their pantomime-like movements, combined with their curious explorations of the stage and the theater, turn the blue men into likable and confusing characters that make the ensuing absurdity of the stage extra enjoyable.
Taking the time to humiliate latecomers when they stop to let them find their seats, creating art by spitting edible paint onto the canvas, and calling volunteers on stage for a not-so-appetizing feast of cream sandwiches Just some antics from the blue band. Men’s is in stock.
