‘Dream Wife’ and ‘Hotel Horror’ actress Beta St. John dies at 93

Actress Beta St. John, known for her Broadway and film achievements, has died at the age of 93.

She died of natural causes on June 23 in an assisted living facility in England, her son, TV producer Roger Grant, confirmed.

Born Betty Jean Striegler in Hawthorne, California, St. John’s began her acting career at the age of 10 with the 1939 film Doom comes again, She performed alongside Marlene Dietrich in it.

Her “first adult” role in the film came in 1953 dream wife, Betta St. John stars as a Middle Eastern princess who is engaged to a businessman, played by Cary Grant.

In 2019, St. John’s was honored to be inducted into the Hawthorne Hall of Fame. She spent her later years in England.

St. John is survived by her son Roger Grant, daughters Karen and Deanna, and her grandchildren Kristen, Matt, Drew and Michael.
