Atlantis, The Palm appoints chief operating officer

Atlantis, The Palm, a leading entertainment destination resort, has appointed Kym Barter as its new general manager and senior vice president of operations.

Barter has over three decades of experience in the luxury hospitality and food and beverage industry, having previously served an impressive two years as Vice President of Food and Beverage at Atlantis.

At the height of the global pandemic, just before the opening of the Royal Atlantis Hotel, Mr. Barter joined Atlantis and developed a team of high-performing culinary professionals that ultimately contributed to the resort’s food and beverage operations. A record year.

Under his leadership, the destination has also been awarded three Michelin stars and landed Ossiano on the 2023 World’s 50 Best Restaurants list.

Bart’s new role takes him at the helm of Atlantis, The Palm, where he will oversee all operational aspects of the iconic resort, driving service and operational performance while sharing his passion for exceptional guest experience.

His responsibilities will include the 1,544-room resort, 35 world-renowned restaurants and bars, extensive convention and event offerings, retail avenues and the Awaken spa and fitness center.

Appreciating the appointment, Timothy Kelly, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Atlantis Dubai, said: “In the spirit of driving growth and excellence, we have revamped Atlantis Dubai. Senior leadership organizational structure at The Lantis. The goal is to ensure that Atlantis, The Palm, The Royal at Atlantis and Aquaventure all benefit from a dedicated operational senior leadership team that will manage all of our business unit.”

“The result will be a seamless resort experience for our guests and associates that demonstrates our commitment to service excellence. Since joining the Atlantis family in May 2021, Kym brings a wealth of experience to the operation expertise, passion and dedication, we are delighted to welcome him into this new role,” he said.

Prior to that, Barter held a variety of leadership roles, most directly as Senior Vice President of Food and Beverage at Wynn and Encore Las Vegas. He also served as Senior Vice President of Food and Beverage at Wynn Palace Macau and was a key member of the pre-opening leadership team.

Barter’s early experience includes leadership roles at Nobu Hospitality, where he oversaw food and beverage development for new hotels in Miami, London, Riyadh and Manila, as well as General Manager of Food and Beverage Asia at the Crown Entertainment Center in Melbourne and several other hotels.

On accepting the appointment, Barter said: “I am very excited about what’s to come as we continue to grow our already iconic hotel.
