As one of the most successful actors of our time, Will Smith recently revealed that he spent most of his life trying to meet the standards set for him by his star-studded career.When talking to people GQ, Will recounted his journey from a good movie star to a fully developed man, and discussed how his marriage played a role in it over the years.
For many years, Will and Jada have been the target of a couple, before Jada Pinkett Smith revealed that she had been with August AlsinaDuring a conversation with GQ, Will revealed that he and Jada had no “traditional” relationship, indicating that their relationship was no longer monogamous at some point.
“Jada never believed in traditional marriages… Jada’s family members have non-traditional relationships. So her way of growing up is very different from how I grew up,” he said. “About what is perfect relationship? What is the perfect way for couples to interact? For a large part of our relationship, we have chosen a single entity, rather than treating monogamy as the only perfect relationship.”
Will Smith explained to the interviewer that although the public was very critical of Jada’s revelations about August, she was “not the only person engaged in other sexual relations.”
“We give each other trust and freedom, believing that everyone must find their own way. For us, marriage cannot be a prison,” Will said. “And I won’t suggest our path for anyone. I don’t recommend this path for anyone. But the freedom and unconditional support we give to each other is the highest definition of love for me.”
Will revealed that he has played a role throughout his life and is now ready to live according to his true identity as a man, father and husband.
“The main difference is that I tell the truth, even if people don’t like it,” Will said. “And Will Smith (character) doesn’t.”
