US President Joe Biden receives Covid booster injection-News

[ad_1]

Quite a few Americans continue to refuse a shot of the vaccine

US President Joe Biden received a booster of the Covid-19 vaccine on Monday and told Americans that they still resist injections and that they are harming the country.

Biden rolled up his left sleeve in the White House and received a third dose of Pfizer in accordance with the recently approved health guidelines, which allow people 65 years of age or older to take the booster.

“I know it doesn’t look like it, but I’m 65 years old,” Biden, 78, joked.

Adults with high-risk diseases and adults who work in frequent exposure to the virus are also eligible for boosters.

But Biden said the problem is that a large proportion of Americans continue to refuse a shot, which has contributed to the fatal surge of Delta variants across the country.

Biden said that 77% of Americans have been vaccinated, but that is not enough, and nearly a quarter of them still refuse to be vaccinated.

Biden said: “This unique minority is causing huge losses to many of us and huge damage to other parts of the country.”

“Please do the right thing,” he said.

Biden received his first dose of Pfizer in December last year, in January, when he was still in the presidential election.

Biden said last week that approximately 60 million people in the United States are eligible for Pfizer’s booster injection.

He said that once the study is completed, people receiving Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines can get boosters, and he expects all Americans to be eligible “in the short term.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said on Friday that it will evaluate Moderna and Johnson’s booster data “in the coming weeks.”
