Indian American congressman’s stance against Hindu nationalism – record scrutinized

Despite being a lover of Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, and other religions born in India, he stressed the necessity to protect the rights of all people in the country, regardless of their religious affiliations – be they Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, Christians, or Jains.

He also spoke about the situation in Burma (Myanmar) and Bangladesh, expressing support for the Burmese people’s efforts to resist repression and visiting Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.

During a special Congressional briefing titled “India’s Brutal Persecution of Kashmir,” he called for international attention to the issue, criticizing Prime Minister Modi’s approach to human rights and democracy in India.
