UAE recovers AED 2.32 million from fake private sector jobs

UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) has reclaimed over Dh2.32 million from 107 UAE citizens who falsely assumed roles in the private sector, benefiting from the Nafis program. This federal initiative aids Emiratis in securing private sector employment, providing salary support and other perks.

Mohre’s statement on Wednesday highlighted their vigilance in tracking companies’ adherence to hiring Emiratis for genuine roles, ensuring proper salary disbursement through the Wage Protection System (WPS), and aligning with pension funds digitally. Regular on-site inspections of companies employing Emiratis are also conducted.

Legally, UAE firms are mandated to incorporate 2 percent of Emiratis in skilled positions annually.

The Nafis program supports firms in locating Emirati job seekers while incentivizing Emiratisation in the private sector through financial aid.

Nevertheless, feigned Emiratisation attracts penalties, leading to the recouping of granted financial assistance. Fines for this violation can amount to Dh100,000 per Emirati involved.

‘Fake Emiratisation’ entails enrolling an Emirati on a company’s roster without actual work, exploiting Nafis benefits. Legal action is pursued against such instances.

This endeavor aligns with Emiratisation objectives, ensuring that Nafis program benefits, alongside company facilities, contribute to advancing Emirati citizens’ role in national development.

Mohre cautioned against falling for sham Emiratisation jobs, urging reporting of violations via hotline 600590000 or the ministry’s app and website.

In July, Mohre imposed fines and administrative measures on 436 companies for false Emiratisation cases in the latter half of 2022. Nafis financial perks were also withheld from UAE nationals embroiled in these deceptive schemes.
