UAE: Ensuring Plant Survival During Summer Heat

Uplift Your Home’s Air Quality with Summer-Friendly Plants As summer brings forth a surge in plant growth, consider the environment and explore natural ways to enhance indoor air quality. Ornamental plants offer a solution that is both innovative and aesthetically pleasing, acting as effective defenders against pollution.

The escalating issue of indoor air quality is met by a range of indoor plants that serve as attractive, nature-based options for purification. Horticulturist Harish Gowda from souqgarden.

com provides insights into their requirements for optimal growth. These plants are classified into low, medium, and high light categories, based on their light needs.

Ensuring their survival involves maintaining a balance of air, light, and water. With watering frequency varying based on plant and pot size, care is vital. The right temperature is also crucial; indoor plants thrive when temperatures stay under 23°C for ideal growth.

Notably, certain indoor plants, like bamboo palm, English palm, and snake plant, were found by NASA to have the exceptional ability to absorb harmful elements, enhancing air purity by addressing carcinogens such as benzene, trichloroethylene, and formaldehyde.

Five indoor plants that thrive during summer are recommended:

  1. Sansevieria Trifasciata Laurentiis (Snake Plant): This plant flourishes in low to medium light conditions, needing minimal watering and supporting temperatures below 23°C. It contributes to air purification while beautifying interiors.
  2. Spathiphyllum (Peace Lily): Adaptable to moderate to low light levels, Peace Lily requires weekly watering and temperatures below 23°C. Its air-purifying qualities enhance ambiance, adding a touch of calm.
  3. Dracaena Fragrans (Corn Plant): With its tall stems and sword-like leaves, it thrives in mild light and low-care conditions, offering a tropical charm to interiors.
  4. Chamaedorea Seifrizii (Bamboo Palm): With thin, bamboo-like branches, this palm enhances interior spaces and improves indoor air quality while being visually appealing.
  5. Aglaonema Modestum (Chinese Evergreen): Adored for its striking leaves and adaptability, this plant thrives indoors, making it a beloved choice.
  6. Ficus Benjamina (Weeping Fig): A popular indoor tree with attractive foliage, it requires careful attention to light and water, enhancing the living environment while requiring prudent care.

By incorporating these plants, you can not only add beauty to your indoor spaces but also actively contribute to a healthier and more vibrant living environment.
