An Indian national stranded in the UAE without documents has been successfully repatriated with assistance from local social workers. Muhsin, originally from Kerala, arrived on a visit visa in March 2023 and lost his passport and other documents.
Accumulating overstay fines and facing accommodation issues, he received help from social workers including Salam Pappinissery, Siyaf Mattanchery, Rahima Shaneed, and the Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC).
They secured waivers for his fines, a police clearance certificate, an outpass from the Indian Consulate, and the necessary documents for his exit.
Muhsin has now returned to Kerala. UAE authorities routinely advise visitors not to overstay, with standardized overstay fines of Dh50 per day for various visa types. Additionally, 42 Sri Lankan women with expired visas are in the process of being repatriated from the UAE.
