Issues Reminder The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has issued a reminder to private sector companies regarding the imperative to meet Emiratisation targets by December 31.
Incremental Emiratisation Mandate
Companies with 50 or more employees are directed to have Emiratis in 4% of skilled roles within their workforce by the year-end. The MoHRE outlines a progressive approach, requiring companies to add 2% of Emiratis to their workforce annually until 2026.
Penalties and Compliance Challenges: Issues Reminder
Fines for non-compliance have been increasing annually, with companies facing penalties of Dh7,000 per month per Emirati not hired this year. Those missing the semi-annual Emiratisation deadline in July incurred fines of Dh42,000 for each citizen not employed.
Historical Fines and Achievements
Previously, the MoHRE imposed fines totaling Dh400 million against private companies failing to meet Emiratisation targets in 2022. Despite challenges, 18,000 establishments have met their targets, resulting in a notable increase in Emiratis joining the private sector workforce.
Zero-Tolerance Against Fraudulent Practices
The MoHRE has adopted a strict stance against fraudulent Emiratisation. In August, fines ranging from Dh20,000 to Dh100,000 were imposed on companies proven to have hired 824 UAE nationals in fake jobs.
Commitment to Economic Development
Emphasizing its commitment, the MoHRE introduced the Nafis platform to assist establishments in finding Emirati job-seekers. The ministry is dedicated to providing necessary resources to enhance the private sector’s role in advancing Emiratisation plans and contributing to the UAE’s economic development.
