Arrival of Second Batch of Palestinians with Injuries in Abu Dhabi

Injuries In a compassionate initiative, the UAE has welcomed a second group of Palestinian children, victims of the ongoing Gaza conflict, for medical treatment at Emirati hospitals. The mission, involving a swift round-trip flight from Abu Dhabi to Al Arish International Airport in Egypt, was executed in under 15 hours, underscoring the urgency of the situation.

Humanitarian Response and Evacuation Operation

With the active involvement of Khaleej Times, the flight carried over 50 passengers, including medical volunteers and cabin crew. The aircraft touched down at Al Arish at 5:45 pm local time (7:45 pm UAE time), initiating a meticulous process of evacuating the injured children and assessing their medical conditions.

Varied War Injuries and Emotional Journeys:  Injuries

These young patients, grappling with war-induced injuries ranging from fractures to burns, some even battling cancer, have found a glimmer of hope in the UAE’s medical intervention. Among them is Mohammed, a Palestinian resident, who, while realizing his dream of visiting the UAE, is gripped with the uncertainty of ever reuniting with his family.

Presidential Directive and Ongoing Humanitarian Commitment

Earlier this month, UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan issued a pivotal directive, committing to providing medical treatment for 1,000 Palestinian children affected by the conflict. Additionally, the UAE has extended its support to treat 1,000 cancer patients, responding to the healthcare crisis resulting from continuous bombings in Gaza.

From Dreams to Reality: A Personal Story:  Injuries

Mohammed’s journey reflects the personal toll of the conflict, as he and his cousin, Mohammed Anwar, navigated evacuation from southern Gaza to the northern region. Anwar’s spinal injury, incurred during a bombing, underscores the devastating impact on innocent lives. Their story encapsulates the emotional upheaval faced by many in the region.

Logistical Challenges and Volunteer Resilience

Volunteers, working tirelessly around the clock, encountered logistical challenges during the evacuation. The coordination required to address issues, such as stretcher limitations, exemplifies the dedication of those involved in ensuring the smooth transportation of the injured children.

Hope Amidst Pain: Medical Intervention and Future Plans

As the patients were carefully transferred onto the plane, medics provided not just medical care but emotional support, employing humor to distract and alleviate the children’s pain. Officials have affirmed a commitment to future flights, aiming to transport more injured Gazan children to the UAE for treatment.
