Peec Mobility, a Dubai-based start-up founded by 24-year-old entrepreneur Zach Faizal, is set to unveil the UAE’s first home-grown petrol-to-electric repurposed vehicle at COP28. This marks a significant milestone in the country’s journey towards achieving its Net-Zero goals.
Breakthrough Repurposing Technology
Peec Mobility’s breakthrough technology allows for the repurposing of retired petrol vehicles, transforming them into electric vehicles at 30% lower cost and 80% less manufacturing time than new electric vehicles. The start-up aims to repurpose entire fleets of internal combustion engine (ICE) buses, cars, and trucks on UAE roads, offering a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to mass scrapping.
Quicker, Greener, and Cost-Efficient Transition: Electric VehicleÂ
Faizal believes that re-engineering existing vehicles is quicker, smoother, and greener than manufacturing new electric vehicles, addressing the affordability challenge in the sector. Peec Mobility is set to present its reinvented mid-sized sedans and buses with a smart paint job, Flyknit-style upholstery, and retrofitted home-designed electric engines at COP28.
Ambitious Targets for a Sustainable Future
Faizal’s goal is to have at least 500 repurposed EVs operating on Dubai roads by 2024, supporting the UAE’s Net Zero goal and reducing emissions from the transportation sector. The start-up plans to collaborate with the government to implement vehicle conversion at scale and create a replicable model for global adoption.
