The Civil Aviation Administration urges people to exercise maximum caution.
The Oman Civil Aviation Authority said on Friday that tropical storm “Shaheen” is expected to intensify into a Category 1 tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours, and will directly affect coastal areas including the capital Muscat from Sunday.
The authorities said in a statement on Twitter: “The center of the storm is about 650 kilometers away from Muscat Governorate, and the nearest convective cloud belt associated with the storm is about 500 kilometers away.”

Shaheen continued to move from North Muscat and Al Batinah province to the coastal areas. Both areas are expected to be directly affected on Sunday, including strong winds and heavy rains, leading to severe flash floods.
The latest satellite images and analysis of NMHEWS show that tropical storm /Shaheen/ is moving towards the coast of the Sultanate overlooking the Oman Sea. The center of the storm is 650 kilometers from Muscat. The wind speed around the center is estimated to be between 34-63 knots.

The Civil Aviation Administration stated that it is expected that the waves from the southern part of Al-Sharqiya to Musandam will reach a height of 8 to 12 meters from Saturday night.
The public is advised to take precautions to stay away from low-lying areas and avoid crossing river valleys or valleys.
