Sharif was born in Karachi, a southern port city in 1955, and began acting as a comedian in a stage show in 1974.
His brilliant career spanning nearly five years has made him widely known as the “King of Comedy” in Pakistan.
He has also participated in TV and movies, and produced several popular films.
However, the stage is still his strong point because he pioneered stage play in Pakistan with the late comedy icon Moin Akhtar, who died in 2011.
Sharif has performed in dozens of countries around the world during his career.
His talent transcends political boundaries, as evidenced by the love and admiration he received in neighboring India, where many entertainers have regarded Sharif as a teacher and mentor for many years.
