UAE authorities on Saturday warned residents and tourists to avoid beaches, valleys, dams, mountains and low-lying areas because tropical cyclone Sahin may affect the country’s weather conditions.
According to the National Meteorological Center (NCM), tropical cyclone “Shahin” is currently centered on the northwestern part of the Arabian Sea at 24.3 north latitude and 60.9 east longitude. Different types of clouds are being formed, accompanied by rainy convective clouds of different intensities and strong. It revolves around the center at a speed of 116 to 150 kilometers per hour in the Arabian Sea.
An NCM spokesperson said at a virtual press conference on October 2 that the center of the cyclone is 440 kilometers from the coast of Fujairah. The official said: “The speed of the cyclone in the west-northwest direction is 11 km/h.”
According to NCM’s forecast, the tropical cyclone “Shaheen” will continue to move towards the coast of Oman in the next 24 hours. By the afternoon and evening of Sunday, October 3, parts of the country will be affected by tropical cyclones. .
“This is especially common in the eastern region, including Al Ain and the southern region, and extends to some central regions, where convective clouds will increase, which is related to rainfall of different intensities, leading to mountain torrents in the valleys and torrents and water in some areas. Accumulate in low-lying areas,” the official explained.
The spokesperson said: “As an active measure, for the safety of community members, procedures and measures have been announced after the hurricane in the affected area.” During this period, residents must avoid going to the beach and going to the sea.
“Avoid valleys, low-lying areas and places that experience heavy rains,” he added. “Rainfall will cause heavy rain in valleys, and it is expected that some low-lying areas may accumulate water. The wind changes from active to strong, and the dust they raise causes reduced horizontal visibility, especially when cumulus clouds are sometimes accompanied by lightning and thunder,” the spokesperson said.
Urge residents to pay attention to news and information broadcast on official social media channels. He added: “We call on all members of the community to pay attention to the information released by the National Meteorological Center on all its official electronic platforms and not to be attracted by any rumors about weather conditions.”
The official also stated that the UAE is fully prepared to deal with the possible impact of the cyclone. “NCM’s technical team is analyzing the available data day and night and making carefully researched predictions. NCM will share with the relevant authorities. All necessary preventive measures and coordination work are in progress to deal with the ongoing weather conditions,” he added .
