A nurse in Florida was fired after hospital officials accused her of posting photos of babies with birth defects on social media.
Sierra Samuels works as a nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. She shared a photo of a newborn with gastroschisis on her personal social networking site-a birth defect in the abdominal wall causes the baby’s intestines to escape from the body Highlight media accounts, NBC News report.
The photos shared by Samuels have captions that read: “My night is going well, and then prosperity!” and “Your intestines are on the inside instead of outside baby! #胃裂.”
A statement from a representative of the Jackson Health System read: “Employees who violate these privacy rules, despite their education, will still be subject to disciplinary action, including suspension or dismissal. As soon as we learn of this potential violation, we will immediately let the Employees are on administrative leave and await the results of the investigation.”
