Leadership in Urban Resilience: The Journey of a Smart City in Crisis Communication
Since its inception in 2019, Alert Smart City has been at the forefront of innovation in crisis communication. Born from an earthquake experience in Mayotte in 2018, the company focuses on robust, blackout-resistant communication solutions. Partnering with CNES from 2020 to 2022, they explored satellite technology for uninterrupted connectivity. In 2023, they developed resilient, standalone communication tools, ready for commercialization after successful beta tests in 2024.
Alert Smart City remains at the forefront of autonomous and bidirectional communication solutions to ensure continuous communication during natural disasters, industrial incidents, or any other emergency.
Let’s hear all about it in detail in the interview below:
Can you share key milestones and turning points in your journey as an industry leader or entrepreneur?
Since our inception, we have focused on improving urban preparedness and
communication during emergencies, starting with extensive market research to identify critical needs.
From 2020 to 2022, we partnered with the French space agency, Centre National d’ÉtudesSpatiales(CNES), to explore the potential of satellite communication, gaining valuable insights into space-based technologies. In 2023, we developed autonomous, bidirectional communication tools designed to withstand the toughest conditions. After rigorous testing and beta phases in early 2024, our unique solutions are now ready for commercialization. At Alert Smart City, we are at the forefront of
technological advancements in crisis communication, eager to share our progress and contribute to a safer future for cities worldwide.
What inspired you to start your own company or venture into this industry?
The idea for Alert Smart City was sparked by a personal experience in 2018 when we were in Mayotte during a series of earthquakes. This highlighted the vulnerability of communication infrastructures during large-scale natural disasters. This critical situation made us realize the importance of having robust and bidirectional communication solutions that can function even during total blackouts.
We then conducted extensive market research to assess the need for emergency communication solutions and identify promising technologies. Fueled by this experience and a determination to enhance urban resilience, we founded Alert Smart City in 2019.
Our mission is to develop autonomous, bidirectional communication solutions to ensure continuous communication during natural disasters, industrial incidents, or any emergency. Today, Alert Smart City is an innovative leader in crisis communication, offering advanced technological solutions to protect and secure populations and sensitive infrastructures.
