For unvaccinated private school students of 12 years and older who are taking on-site courses in Abu Dhabi, they are now required to undergo a regular 7-day PCR with negative results.
According to the latest school regulations that came into effect this month, for fully vaccinated students, a negative PCR test every 30 days will enable them to participate in face-to-face classes.
Parents were informed of the revised guidelines in an earlier notice.
All students 16 years and older must be fully vaccinated to participate in physical education. According to regulations, unvaccinated students without medical exemptions are not allowed to enter the campus.
Students who are 11 years old and below must also show a negative PCR result that is valid for 30 days in order to participate in physical education.
Fully vaccinated school employees who have received two doses of Covid vaccine and booster also need to submit a negative PCR result every 30 days.
The Abu Dhabi Ministry of Education and Knowledge (Adek) earlier clarified that students between the ages of 3 and 15 do not need to be vaccinated to participate in classroom teaching.
However, injections must be given to students 16 years and older. They can only participate in classroom teaching 28 days after receiving the second dose of the vaccine approved by the UAE.
Students who have received a vaccination exemption can enter the campus, provided that the exemption is verified on their Al Hosn app or through an official letter from a vaccination provider authorized by the Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH), such as Seha or Mubadala Health.
Anna Pagdiwalla, the principal of Mayoor School in Abu Dhabi, stated that all parents have been informed of Adek’s updated school rules in October and that both parents and students are complying with these measures.
“All of our students over 16 years of age have been vaccinated. The remaining reasonable number of students who are eligible for the vaccine have also been vaccinated,” she told Khaleej Times on Tuesday.
“Adke has arranged a medical team to come to the school every two weeks to do PCR tests for students for free,” she said.
An official from Al Basma British School also stated that their students 16 years and older have been vaccinated, and the remaining 55% of students have also been vaccinated against Covid-19.
Adek earlier announced that it will provide free Covid-19 PCR tests to students over 12 years old and school staff at designated test centers on specific dates in each school.
