Intersect by Lexus Dubai (IBL) is a well-known restaurant located in the heart of Dubai’s International Financial Center and part of Al-Futtaim Automotive. It launched the IBL “Young Chef Competition” to support young and talented chefs across Dubai. The local talents from SCAFA (Dubai Academy of Culinary and Finishing Arts) were reduced to the application of three young chefs who will compete with each other by creating unique dishes that reflect their personalities, styles and skills. The winner will have the opportunity to enjoy their signature three-course menu at DIFC’s restaurant, which will be used by diners for a full month.
Participants, Chef Hayat Mussa Yilma, Chef Munir Mansab, and Chef Hala Bassar will plan and produce a copy for a respected jury including Capucine Leblon, Lexus Intersect Restaurant Manager in Dubai, and Samantha Wood award-winning restaurant critics Special menu, Pang Long Chin, chef of COYA Abu Dhabi, Mathieu Balbino, chef of Pierre Bistro & Bar of Pierre Gagnaire, chef Ravikanth Avadula, chef of LPM Abu Dhabi, Alex Augusti and Samina Merchant of @justfoodxb, Filmfare Winner of the Social M Awards 2021.
“We are very happy to launch this competition that supports local talents and empowers the new generation to participate in the catering industry. Each contestant needs to abide by the competition conditions, for example, each dish must contain up to five ingredients, and each dish will integrate a star ingredient. All three courses will be judged according to all requirements based on six criteria including taste, presentation, creativity, technology, inspiration and overall achievement, and each category will receive 5 points.
The winner of the contest will be announced on October 29. All the filming episodes of the competition will be broadcast on the @intersectbylexusdubai Instagram profile via IGTV, and the episodes will be available on October 15, 22 and 29.
