Major Disruption: Shah Rukh Khan’s King Cancels Dubai Shoot, Shifts to Mumbai Amid Tensions

Shah Rukh Khan’s King Cancels Dubai Shoot Amid Middle East Tensions, Shifts to Mumbai

Shah Rukh Khan’s much-anticipated film King has reportedly faced a major change in its shooting schedule due to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East. The makers were initially planning to shoot an important sequence in Dubai, but the plan has now been called off keeping safety concerns in mind. The decision reflects the growing impact of regional instability on film productions.

According to reports, a large-scale desert action scene featuring Shah Rukh Khan, along with Suhana Khan and Anil Kapoor, was scheduled to be filmed in Dubai starting April 9. The team had even secured all necessary permissions for the international shoot. However, the volatile situation in West Asia forced the filmmakers to reconsider their plans at the last moment. The safety of the cast and crew was the top priority.

Prioritising the safety of the cast and crew, the production team decided to cancel the Dubai schedule entirely. Instead of taking any risks, the makers have now shifted the entire sequence to Mumbai, where the shoot will continue under controlled conditions. The decision was made swiftly to avoid any delays.

To maintain the scale and visual appeal originally envisioned for the film, the team is recreating a massive desert set in a Mumbai studio, reportedly in the Vile Parle area. Despite the sudden change in location, the filmmakers are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the action sequence matches the grandeur planned for the Dubai shoot. Production designers are working around the clock.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, King is one of the most ambitious projects in Shah Rukh Khan’s career. The film boasts a star-studded cast including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji and others, making it one of the most awaited releases of 2026. The film marks Suhana Khan’s first major collaboration with her father.

Interestingly, this is not the only film affected by the ongoing geopolitical situation. Reports suggest that several Bollywood projects have had to alter their international shooting schedules due to similar concerns, highlighting how global tensions are now impacting film production logistics. The situation has prompted production houses to reassess international location shoots.

Despite this setback, the makers of King are determined to keep the production on track. By shifting the shoot to Mumbai and recreating the required locations, the team is ensuring that there are no major delays in the film’s timeline. The quick decision also reflects the industry’s adaptability in handling unexpected challenges. The film’s release date remains unchanged for now.

With its grand scale, high-octane action sequences, and a powerful ensemble cast, King continues to generate strong buzz among fans. While the cancellation of the Dubai shoot may have come as a surprise, the film’s progress remains steady, and expectations from the project are still sky-high. Fans are eagerly awaiting the film’s theatrical release, which is scheduled for Christmas 2026.

The Mumbai set is being designed to replicate the desert landscape, with attention to detail to ensure visual continuity. The team is confident that audiences will not notice the change in location. The shoot is expected to resume shortly with the new arrangements in place.
