UAE: Dh50,000 fined for tampering with security cameras and signs-News

If a crime causes a disaster, the offender will face temporary imprisonment.

The UAE public prosecutor said on Saturday that deliberately damaging or removing signs and surveillance cameras is considered a crime, punishable by imprisonment and a fine of not less than AED 50,000.

The authorities explained Article 294 of the Federal Penal Code on social media, which states: “Anyone removes, destroys or damages machines, tools or signs, or surveillance cameras needed to prevent accidents — or anyone who provides such The items are no longer useful…should be punishable by imprisonment of not less than one year and a fine of not less than AED 50,000.”

If a crime causes a disaster, the offender will face temporary imprisonment. “In all cases, the offender should be ordered to pay the amount of damage caused,” the state news agency WAM reported.

The public prosecution’s consultation is part of its ongoing campaign to raise awareness and promote the country’s legal culture.
