Al Ain Zoo is preparing to relocate baby giraffes in the safari area, where visitors can feed them and enjoy close interaction

Al Ain Zoo will release the newborn Rothschild giraffe to Al Ain Wildlife Park, and live with the 12 existing giraffes in the world’s largest man-made wildlife park.

The fusion of juvenile giraffes and adult giraffes is part of its wildlife conservation plan and strategy. The purpose is to breed and increase the number of Rothschild giraffes. The Rothschild giraffe is a subspecies that has been added to the International Union for Conservation of Nature ( IUCN) The endangered species on the Red List, Al Ain Zoo said in a press statement on Monday.

Newborn giraffes receive special help from their animal care experts to establish strong connections through a program based on active reinforcement and behavioral training, which aims to promote the interactions necessary to provide animals with daily needs.

A few months after birth, the baby giraffe is weaned and ready to eat with its mother. Then, they started to get help to learn independent feeding through their animal care experts introducing different types of food.

The whole process prepares the zoo to relocate the baby giraffes in the safari area, where visitors can feed them and enjoy close interaction.
