The Spanish National Day celebrations were held on Tuesday night at the Spanish Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. The celebration was jointly organized by the Spanish Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the Spanish Pavilion and the Spanish Business Council (Spain Chamber of Commerce in the UAE).
The event was co-hosted by Spanish Ambassador Iñigo de Palacio España, Spanish Pavilion Deputy Curator Carmen Bueno, and Spanish Business Council (SBC) Chairman Guillermo Cobelo Fernández. More than 350 people attended.
According to the press release, guests included UAE officials, representatives of Spanish companies, members of the Spanish Business Council, ambassadors, members of the Spanish community, and Expo officials.
When the deputy curator of the Spanish Pavilion gave a speech at the rally, he invited the Spanish community and all guests to visit the pavilion and enjoy more than 100 performances organized in the next six months.
“During the World Expo, the Spanish Pavilion organized a very rich cultural and professional event project. The project was opened by flamenco singer Miguel Poveda, and the Artefactum music group is currently performing in different venues of the World Expo,” Bueno said. .
SBC Chairman Fernández thanked all the entities that made the event possible, especially the Spanish companies that sponsored it, and invited them and the entire Spanish community to use the Expo to show that Spain can contribute a lot to it. Create a better future”.
He affirmed: “Today, I think we have got rid of the darkest time. As a strong and united community, we have successfully moved forward.”
Finally, the Spanish ambassador reiterated the good bilateral relations between the UAE and Spain on his first National Day in the UAE. He expressed his happiness and pride in Spain’s participation in the UAE.
“I found that Spain has a lot of participation in the UAE, whether in business, science, research, public affairs or culture. This makes us very proud and confident in our future here,” said the ambassador.
On this special occasion, the Spanish government and the Spanish Embassy in Abu Dhabi commended outstanding UAE institutions that actively strengthen bilateral relations between Spain and the UAE. These entities received the “Friends of Spain” award.
