Shashwat and Shobha Mahalanobis are the first mother-child combination ever to climb Mount Everest. Kilimanjaro.

A 14-year-old boy from Dubai climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, and the highest independent mountain in the world, becoming the youngest Indian expatriate in the UAE to climb the summit.

Shashwat Mahalanobis, a 14-year-old student of Dubai Gem Modern Academy, and his mother, fitness enthusiast Shobha Mahalanobis, are the first mother-child combination ever to climb Mount Everest. Kilimanjaro.

The youngest Emirati to reach the top is Seif Saleh Al Shunnar, who achieved this feat at the age of 14 in 2018.

This mountain in Tanzania is 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level, which is 16,100 feet above the bottom of its plateau.

Starting on July 4th, the mother-child duo reached the summit on July 9th and returned the next day.

Before embarking on the journey and braving the challenges of high altitude, extremely low temperatures and strong winds, Shashwat and his mother participated in personal training sessions three to four times a week. They often climb mountains in the UAE, carrying 10 kg backpacks and special climbing equipment.

These instructor-led training courses helped the two build physical and psychological strength in climbing. In addition, Shashwat used to walk 5-7 kilometers with his parents every day to build strength and improve health.

Shashwat is an artificial intelligence expert and Python expert. He has 11 certifications in data science, machine learning, and AI (artificial intelligence). During Covid-19, he taught 15 children to use Python (programming language). He also likes to play the guitar.

After reaching the top of the mountain, Shashwat said he was proud of his courage, and now he believes that no mountain is too high for him.

He hopes that his achievements will inspire others to follow in his footsteps and bring more records to the UAE.

“He likes outdoor activities, cricket and basketball. He has always been an athlete,” Shobha said of Shashwat.

She added that they next “plan to take a trip to Everest Base Camp from March to April.”
