AIIMS officials said on Saturday that former prime minister Manmohan Singh has been diagnosed with dengue fever, but his health is improving. On Wednesday night, the 89-year-old congressional leader was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after complaining of weakness after fever.
“He was diagnosed with dengue fever, but his platelet count is now increasing and his condition is improving,” an AIIMS official said on Saturday.
Singh has been admitted to the private ward of the heart and nerve center of the hospital and is under the care of a team of cardiologists led by Dr. Nitish Naik.
Federal Minister of Health Manzuk Mandavia met with Singh on Thursday and asked about his health.
A quarrel broke out after Mandavia’s visit, and he allegedly brought a photographer with him when he visited the former prime minister.
Manmohan Singh’s daughter Daman Singh was furious in Mandaviya for hiring a photographer against her family’s wishes.
Daman Singh told printed matter Her mother was very upset because a photographer entered the room with the minister. But when she insisted that the photographer leave the room, “she was completely ignored.”
“She is very depressed. My parents are trying to cope with difficult situations. They are elderly people. They are not animals in the zoo,” Daman Singh said.
