Ministry of Health-Abu Dhabi, Hub71 promotes healthcare innovation ecosystem

The Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH) is the regulatory agency of the emirate’s healthcare sector. Through cooperation with Hub71, the Abu Dhabi global technology ecosystem, it continues to invest in the provision of an attractive healthcare innovation ecosystem. This is part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the two entities at GITEX Technology Week today. This partnership strengthens DoH’s efforts to promote healthcare innovation. It aims to create business opportunities for start-ups and strengthen cooperation between entities in different fields to reveal the most important challenges and provide technology-driven solutions and initiatives. These efforts are aimed at positively reflecting Abu Dhabi’s healthcare sector and improving the health and safety of community members.

The Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi and Hub71 CEO Badr Al-Olama signed a memorandum of understanding at GITEX Technology Week.

Hub71’s HealthTech startup founders will benefit from direct access to DoH’s huge network of local and international partners, customers, experts, and investors. In addition, they will also have priority access to the DoH plug-and-play MENA HealthTech accelerator program and DoH health technology assessment. DoH will also support the founders of Hub71 to commercialize products and services by providing connections with hospitals, health insurance, life science partners, and universities that need entrepreneurial support. This cooperation will culminate with the launch of the annual Hub71-DoH Health Technology Challenge. DoH will also join Hub71’s selection committee to select highly skilled entrepreneurs and outstanding start-ups to join Abu Dhabi’s global technology ecosystem.

Al Kaabi commented: “The Abu Dhabi Ministry of Health (DoH) continues to consolidate its position as an innovation incubator for the healthcare industry and a contributor to the Abu Dhabi technology ecosystem by establishing a dedicated healthcare research and innovation center. Healthcare innovation provides a stimulating and conducive regulatory environment and targets them by inviting start-ups to find solutions to the challenges faced by the local and global health sector. We are committed to ensuring that the emirate’s healthcare sector is flexible in legislation and research Convenience and proof-of-concept testing adopt the best system to accelerate the adoption of modern technology. We also seek to provide opportunities for health technologies to join the emirate’s healthcare network, and cooperate with Plug and Play Abu Dhabi to establish the first MENA healthcare accelerator plan.”

Al-Olama said: “Our cooperation with the Ministry of Health will inject vitality into the future of Abu Dhabi’s healthcare industry and complement Abu Dhabi’s world-leading response to COVID-19. The healthcare sector plays a vital role in ensuring community safety. Hub71 supports 17 HealthTech startups, specializing in a series of innovative platforms and products to solve real-world challenges in healthcare, such as stimulating the cognitive development of children with autism, realizing virtual consultations in hospitals and medical centers, and providing digital treatments Courses and online tutoring.
