Covid: First-line doctors in Pakistan receive 10-year golden visa-News

[ad_1]

Dr. Javairia Hassan was honored by the government for his exemplary work during the pandemic.

A Pakistani doctor who worked tirelessly to serve the UAE by treating Covid-19 patients during the pandemic has been granted the UAE Golden Visa by the authorities.

As an intensive care physician for Abu Dhabi Health Services (Seha), Dr. Javairia Hassan received a coveted honor from the UAE authorities only three years after moving to the country.

When the pandemic hit last year, she was one of the first doctors to volunteer to take care of Covid-19 patients. “I have been in the intensive care unit for inpatient screening and participated in vaccination trials. I have also been working at Seha vaccination centers in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah,” she told Khaleej Times.

Dr. Hassan even contracted the virus in January of this year. However, she has fully recovered and returned to work as an ICU doctor at Mafraq Hospital in Abu Dhabi.

The Dubai resident moved to the UAE after getting married in 2018. “I completed MBBS in Pakistan in 2014 and practiced medicine there for three years in the government department. I just started to receive my professional training; however, I could not complete it because I had to move to the UAE,” Dr. Hassan Said that she started her career in the country at a treatment clinic in Dubai.

Speaking of her experience as a frontline officer, she said: “I started working with Covid-19 patients in a field hospital in early May 2020.” She has not stayed with her husband and three-year-old son for a long time. “I always live in a hotel and meet them on weekends or any special occasions,” she said.

The doctor added that since last year, she has worked every public holiday. “Last year Eid al-Fitr, New Year and Eid al-Adha-it seems that I will also work on Eid al-Adha. Although this is a huge sacrifice for me, I believe I must help those in need.”

“Serving the people is my duty”

Explaining her motivation, Dr. Hasan said: “I have always wanted to serve people… This is our duty and why I chose to be a doctor. I am never afraid of diseases, medical procedures or blood.” However, When the pandemic started, she was afraid of this invisible virus, just like all medical workers around the world.

“When the pandemic started, it was not just the public; the medical staff were also scared. There was not much research at the time. However, when I had the opportunity to work in the Covid-19 ward, I jumped up,” she recalled.

She said that the biggest challenge at the beginning was the lack of information about the virus. “This is not just a treatment plan, but also patients and doctors are under tremendous mental stress. We wear PPE for 12-13 hours,” she said.

Dr. Hasan believes that her family is her biggest source of support through the pandemic. “My husband encourages me to work and supports me very much. He is also the person who filled out the golden visa application,” she said.

“I went to GDRFA and applied. I received a call confirming the good news within two days. It was like a gift. I am very happy that I will continue to serve the country,” she said.
